Real recovery. Real stories. Real support.
When a baby is born, so is a mother. But while everyone celebrates the baby, few talk about the changes a mother’s body goes through - especially the ones that feel uncomfortable, confusing, or even scary.
At Avnita, we believe in telling the truth - gently, supportively, and without shame. Because your body just did something incredible. And it deserves to be understood and cared for.
Here are some real postpartum body changes many women experience, but not enough people talk about:
Yes, your baby is out - but your belly may still look 5 months pregnant for weeks (or even months). This is completely normal. The uterus takes time to shrink back, and your core muscles need gentle recovery, not pressure to “bounce back.”
Around 3-4 months postpartum, many women experience sudden hair fall. It’s called postpartum hair shedding and happens due to falling estrogen levels. The good news? It usually grows back within a few months.
Engorgement, leaking, tenderness, size changes - it can feel overwhelming. Whether you breastfeed or not, your breasts are responding to hormonal shifts and milk production. Wear a soft, supportive bra and don’t hesitate to seek lactation help if needed.
Postpartum bladder leakage is more common than you think - especially after vaginal birth. Pelvic floor exercises (like Kegels) can help rebuild strength over time. And yes, it's OK to talk about it.
Many women feel a difference in their vaginal or perineal area - especially after tears, stitches, or episiotomy. It may feel swollen, sore, or just... not the same. With care, healing happens. If you’re worried, talk to your OB or a pelvic health therapist.
From unexplained crying to feeling disconnected from your body - the emotional changes are just as real. It’s not just “hormones” - it’s the whole process of becoming a mother. If you're struggling, know you're not alone. Postpartum anxiety and depression are common and treatable.
Every woman’s recovery looks different. Comparing yourself to others - or your pre-pregnancy self - isn’t fair. Be gentle with yourself. Nourish, rest, move slowly, and trust the process.
At Avnita, we support real postpartum recovery - the kind that honours your body, your emotions, and your pace. Whether you're 6 weeks or 6 months postpartum, know that your journey is valid.
